But in the surrounding area there are many places of interest and beauty which might tempt you to take a look around.Besides the beaches there are more than a dozen golf courses between Quinta do Lago and Albufeira, some of which are considered among the best in Europe.
The River Formosa Natural Park is the ideal spot for a long walk, a boat ride (from Faro), a bicycle tour, some birdwatching, or a nice sunset picnic prepared by Casa de Estoi.
If you prefer a boat ride on the open sea, Vilamoura offers a number of options, while off-road enthusiasts can discover the more rugged side of the Algarve in the Serra do Caldeirão.
