Solar dos Marcos is a historic palace reconstructed from an old episcopal residence (18th century), located in the village of Bemposta, where D. Manuel Martins Manso, bishop of Guarda, was born and lived.

The Bishop Martins-Manso will have added the chapel to the original building, in honour of the Virgin Mary, in the 2nd half of 18th century.

The hotel is situated in the Arribes del Duero nature reserve, 10 minutes from the Spanish border and a must-see spot to enjoy this unique area with nature treasures, ancestral traditions and friendly people.

The house Dos Marcos has an entertainment programme based on the routes along the Arribes del Duero and also offers the opportunity of going on a boat trip along the river Duero, or a trip by car, with excursions on foot, around the most important areas of the International Duero Natural Park and the Arribes del Duero nature reserve.

You can hike along the banks of the International Duero, take a donkey ride, go on a boat trip where you will be able to enjoy some bird watching and take part in the traditional grape harvest in the Arribes del Duero.

Solar dos Marcos is located inside of the Nature Park of the International Douro (Arribas of Douro), which is ca. 10 minutes away from the Douro river and the border with Spain, and it is an obligatory stop-point to stay at ease and enjoy this unique region, which preserves its nature treasures and ancestral traditions, and is populated by friendly people.
